Birth Story Processing

Processing and recovering from the emotionally difficult conception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences that impact your self image and connection with your child

Our past experiences and challenges influence our interactions with our children and our feelings about ourselves as parents. Based on these past experiences, we may be unable to experience parenthood as the sacred experience we once thought it would be.

When we have unresolved experiences, we may unknowingly place them on our children, burdening them with our discontent, anger and sadness. This misplaced processing of a parent’s emotions leaves us and our children filled with bitterness and disconnection.

How do we take care of what is our “stuff” and not burden the next generation to carry it for us?

As we encounter transitions and milestones in our developing identities as parents, we are gifted opportunities, portals, to really slow down and see ourselves and our children. These are gifts we can use to strengthen our relationship with ourselves and them.

When we can recognize, name and turn towards pain as an opportunity to grow and heal, this tends to our inner needs, our inner possibilities for change. This turning inward then allows us to support the inner needs of our children.

How do we move through these transitions in a way that honors our real, often untold experience?

Whenever we as parents enter a space of needing processing and healing, we deserve to be treated gently and intentionally. We need support that puts respectful, deep listening of the heart, mind and body at the core. Based on my own healing experience along my path of parenthood, I have sought to become a resource for parents as a trauma-informed, social justice practitioner.

With full respect for each individual’s potential for healing, along with trauma understanding, somatic tools, solutions focused strategies, and utilizing imagination, symbolism, myth, ritual, ceremony and movement, I help parents grow through and recover from these parenthood transitions.

It’s ok to take up space with our

grieving and healing.

Let’s take up space together.

In what areas might we experience Grief in early parenthood?

Conception: menarche, infertility, adoption

Birth: pregnancy, birth, postpartum period, breastfeeding, weaning, siblings, lack of support system

Loss of life and difficult decisions: abortion, pregnancy termination for medical reasons, miscarriage, stillbirth, child or partner death, suicide

Medical challenges: diagnosis of child or parent, delayed development, managing treatment

When we can address how WE are truly feeling, we can grow and change into a freer, more whole version of us. This allows us to be a part of the loving, respectful support system our child can depend on as they navigate their world.

Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their environment and especially on their children than the unlived life of the parent.

Past Experiences

There are so many gifts that Magdalena brings with her very presence—one of them is the gift of listening. I find myself feeling deeply heard, cared for and held when sharing anything. After every conversation we have, I feel a depth of clarity and insight that propels me forward in my journey.
— Silvina, mother of a 6 year old daughter and soon to be born son
What Magdalena does so naturally is help me access the parts of me that know what is right and needed because she believes that all mothers have what they need already. Helping touch into it is her gift. Once she helps me touch into my power, she helps make sense of it and gives it life through words.
— Susana, mother of a 5 year old daughter
